Multiple sclerosis
The internationally renowned experts at the Jefferson Health Comprehensive Multiple Sclerosis Center can help diagnose and manage MS to improve your quality of life and preserve your independence. Your Jefferson Health neurologist will develop a personalized treatment plan, working with specialists in rehabilitation, neuro-ophthalmology, neurology, psychiatry, neuroradiology and urology. We also offer spasticity management and transverse myelitis management and treatment.
The Jefferson Health team uses advanced technology to identify MS indicators so you can quickly get the care you need. At our Center, we offer leading-edge MRI facilities for clinical imaging and research. MRI is currently the most sensitive noninvasive tool for diagnosing and monitoring MS.
Alzheimer’s disease
One in 10 people age 65 and older has Alzheimer’s disease. And more than half of those with the disease may not know they have it. The Vickie and Jack Farber Institute for Neuroscience — Jefferson Health is advancing knowledge of the disease and leading the pursuit for new treatments through research and clinical trials.

We interact with patients very early in the disease progression, when impairment is typically mild. We also deliver state-of-the-art care, build caregiving skills and help caregivers connect with community support and plan for the future.
Know the symptoms of Alzheimer’s
The most common symptom is difficulty remembering recently learned information. As the disease progresses, other symptoms include but aren’t limited to:
- Disorientation
- Mood and behavior changes
- Confusion about events, time and places
- Unjustified suspicions about family, friends and caregivers
- Worsening memory loss and behavior changes
- Difficulty speaking, swallowing and walking
